From the members of HomeBrewTalk.com comes a very cool video patterning after the recent “I Am a Craft Brewer” video organized by Greg Koch at Stone. Watch closely…Sam Calagione at Dogfish Head makes a very brief cameo appearance.
God I love homebrewing.

I don’t know why I don’t use my own login…this is Mike (Nate’s partner) in thankheavenforbeer. I love it to. The funniest thing about this video is how jealous I got about what equipment I don’t have. Of course, equipment doesn’t matter when you do it right with what you have. But I still want it. What about you?

Hi Mike, I hear you on the equipment thing. My little 5 gallon cooler and brew pots are about as basic as you get compared to the sophistication of some of those guys. But you’re right, if you put some thought into what you’re doing and understand the nuances of your system, you can still produce a great end product. Honestly, the more I brew, the more convinced I am that the real magic in making a good beer has everything to do with understanding proper fermentation techniques and controlling the yeast environment.

Good thought out recipes don’t hurt either. Of course, you are right about the yeast environment, Good sanitation, steady temps, and pitch rates (and the like) are paramount.
