I’ve now been to the mountaintop of the beer world, folks. Or, so the hype goes.
Rather extended video review of Westy 12, including a bit of back story up front from my friend Rob who procured the beers straight from the monks at St. Sixtus, and then a couple minutes of us enjoying the beer. Sorry about the watermarks in the beginning and end, I need to get some decent video editing software (read: not freeware or trial versions).

Awesome man. I stare at my bottles of Westy 8 and 12 everytime I open the fridge. What am I waiting for?!? Anyway I have a bottle of Darklord up for trade. I just don’t need any Westy. I know that sounds horrible!! Let me know if he has anything else. He has the ultimate trade bait!

Westy is all he has, Dave. I still have my bottles too, and plan to do a more formal review of all three styles in the coming months.
It was such a nice beer. Definitely A-level stuff. But it’s not that dissimilar from other Trappist stuff readily available. They use Westmalle yeast, so right there you can start to see some similarities.
